I'm in the mood to work with hand paint color ways again. I'd love to finish my Cardi Shrug today and move on. Ive decided I really don't like purling. I'm in that hate to purl camp. I love knitting. The next time I knit this shrug I'm going to knit everything past the sleeve in garter. Do you dislike purling? Do you have a purling trick? I vaguely remember that there is one....
The Tour de France has started. This means many things to me, almost none of which have to do with cycling. There have been times, when on our family vacation we had to find a bar to watch a leg of the race with Fireman. I know some of you are doing the Tour de Fleece. The one thing I love about cycling races is the peleton. I love how it is a living breathing thing that isn't really a living breathing thing. (For those of you: the peleton is the group of riders, many cyclists together, who change position and drop from the lead and take the lead during the race. It is an evolving thing. ) I sit with Fireman as he watches the race. I knit with Fireman as he watches the race. I sort of watch it , but mostly not. I think the crazy spectators who step out in front of the cyclists make me too nervous. I don't like crashes. The tone of the announcers is way too excited for what I'm taking in as I watch it. They should save that excitement for the end of the race I think.
Happy July. Happy Tour de France.

Claudia is based in VA. Love Knee Deep too. I hope Al will love VA as much as I do!
We had a beautiful red sun as it set last night too, but I was unable to get a photo.
I have the same issue with takin photos. Nothing ever translates the same.
Knit on!
Hooray. Jimmy Buffet fans. Thanks for your note. May we all volunteer whenever we can and have "Boat Drinks" when they're available.
Good luck to Al! The cake looks delicious!
Al is off to VA and a new adventure, eh? Only now, with DD#1 and 3 rapidly growing GK miles from here, do I fully appreciate how my mom felt when we left the Midwest, never to return. Kids need to test their wings, and we need to let go, but it's not easy. VA is a nice spot to visit though. Thinking of you during this transition and wishing Al a fabulous adventure. BTW, love that yarn. Purling is OK; it took me a long time to create a funky way of throwing the yarn, but I still knit much faster.
That's a very nice cake!
I'm going to write down that quote - living by the salty see would be my dream come true.
I love the Tour de France, much to my children's chagrin. They both were looking at me when I started to DVR the race and said, I guess we'll be watching more TV upstairs. Yes, there is a TV up there.
Knitting while watching something like that is a beautiful thing!

Staycations are my favorite. No traveling, no expense and I really like the swing in my yard. VA is great - particularly the coast.
